The Craft Pottery Charitable Trust (CPCT), established by the CPA in 1991, provides small grants to studio ceramic artists and supports various professional and educational activities. The charity is funded through grants, personal donations, bequests, and fundraising activities.
Program Description
The Ceramic Art: Grants to Artists program supports studio-based ceramic practices and curatorial research in contemporary studio ceramics. Grants cover direct expenses for independent research, creation, production of artworks for public exhibitions, or development of prototypes and promotional materials.
Grant Amount
The maximum grant amount is £1,500.
Eligible Uses
Grants can be used for:
- Independent research and creation of work
- Development of prototypes
- Participation in artist residencies and professional development (workshops, specialized training)
- Production of work for confirmed public exhibitions in the UK and/or abroad
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- A British citizen or have permanent resident status (as defined by UK Visas and Immigration)
- A professional artist with specialized training (not necessarily academic), recognized by peers, and committed to artistic activity
- Additional criteria for professional ceramic artists or curators:
- At least two years of professional practice post-training
- An independent body of work
- For artists: at least two public presentations of work in a professional context over two years
- For curators: curated at least two exhibitions/public presentations of contemporary studio ceramics over two years
